Dyslexia Coordinator / Dyslexia Interventionist

I am Kristi Nelson and I am Abernathy I.S.D.'s  Dyslexia Interventionist.   I was raised on a small family farm near Kelton, Texas.  I attended Kelton I.S.D. from Kindergarten through 12th grade.  I graduated from Dallas Baptist University.  I taught at Andrews Middle School and Cotton Center Elementary before coming to Abernathy. I am starting my 13th year at Abernathy Elementary.   Since being at Abernathy I have taught first grade for 5 years and I am starting my 8th year as the Dyslexia Specialist.  I have completed my Dyslexia Training with Scottish Rite of West Texas and upon completion I am now a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT).    My husband is a farmer and we have two children, April Nelson, John Nelson, Jr. and a daughter-in-law Amanda Nelson all living in the Abernathy area.  Helping students that struggle in school is extremely close to my heart and I strive to help them be the best that they can be.

I will do Whatever It Takes to help your child have a great school year.
