Hello! Welcome to 5th grade! My name is Amy Lester and I teach Mathematics here at Abernathy Elementary.
I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2001 with a Bachelors degree in Multidisciplinary Studies, with a specialization in Math. This will be my 19th year to teach Math in Abernathy. I taught 5 years in Hale Center prior to coming to Abernathy. Math is my passion and I hope to instill a love of Mathematics into your child as well. We are going to have some fun while learning Math!
I love the small town atmosphere here in Abernathy and look forward to getting to know the students and families that I will teach. This is a great community to be a part of!
As for my family, I have two sons Jarret and Zachary. Jarret is married to Samantha and they have a son named Colson with a little girl due later this year. Colson is the sweetest little boy and will make the best big brother! My youngest son Zachary just graduated from Texas Tech University and is looking tor a career in Construction Management. I love my little family!!
I am looking forward to a great year here at Abernathy Elementary. Fifth grade is a good place to be! The students are the leaders of the campus and always do a great job in that leadership role. This year will be a challenging one for all of us but excited to share this journey with these future leaders. 5th grade rocks!!
