I am Kristi Nelson and I am Abernathy Elementary's Dyslexia Specialist, Reading Interventionist, and this year I will be the 504 Coordinator on the Elementary Campus. I was raised on a small family farm near Kelton, Texas. I attended Kelton I.S.D. from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I graduated from Dallas Baptist University. I taught at Andrews Middle School and Cotton Center Elementary before coming to Abernathy. I am starting my 10th year at Abernathy Elementary. Since being at Abernathy I have taught first grade for 5 years and I am starting my 5th year as the Dyslexia Specialist and Reading Interventionist. This summer I completed my Training with Scottish Rite of West Texas and upon completion I am now a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT). My husband is a farmer and we have two children. My son will be starting his Senior year at Abernathy High School. My daughter will be attending West Texas State University In Canyon, Texas. Helping students that struggle in school is extremely close to my heart and I strive to help them be the best that they can be.
I will do Whatever It Takes to help your child have a great school year.
